I Entered A World

I Entered a World
by Carol Kindt 5/23/14

I entered a world
Already in motion
Caught up in itself
In daily devotion
To places and things
Of man-made dreams
Not seeing the unseen
Not knowing where I’d been

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

Unaware of the wealth
In such a small package
Face to face with God
Before this arrival
If I could but speak
If I could just tell
The wonder of His presence
The glory of my existence

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

You look like grandma
No, like your aunt
Mom’s eyes, Dad’s smile
Identity defined
If I could express
They’d know who I am
They’d know what I’d seen
They’d know where I’ve been

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

Dada, mama, mimic, speak
Earthly images, patterns, traits
Becoming a “person”
Yet not feeling safe
In this image and space
Vague memory dimmed
Imagination faint
Shrouded in earth’s cause

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

Remember, remember
How to remember
When earth’s motion
Isn’t interested in “there”
Everyone’s forgotten, forgotten
Where they came from
Who they are, really are
Who they’re supposed to be

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

Where are the instructions
For here, from there
Who can direct us
Who even cares
Is there someone
Is there no one
Oh, wait
There’s a Book

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

Years advancing
I can speak
I can express
I can read
Get that Book
Smallest verses first
Touch the Someone
Who really cares

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

The noise of life
Drowns out Heaven’s sound
Ancient of Days speaking
Is that You, Lord
The One from the Book
The One from my faint memory
From where I came from
Oh, glimpse of Joy…remember

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

Days to years gone by
Events unspeakable
Pain, sorrow, fleeting happiness
Earth’s motion reeling
Heaven’s voice calling
Am I listening
I think I am
The One is calling my name

Eyes to see, but cannot see
Ears to hear, but cannot hear

He’s been pursuing
I’ve been running
He’s been leaning
Drawing nearer
I hear something
I feel something
The shift has occurred
I must respond

Eyes want to see, help me see
Ears want to hear, help me hear

Can it be
I’m Yours now
Back home
Yet the battle pursues
As You pursue
Old patterns fight
New ones need focus
I’m remembering

Eyes want to see, help me see
Ears want to hear, help me hear

Years become decades
I must choose
The world or the Lord
Not easy, but simple
You, of course, Lord
Not the popular response
Costly, yet not
You paid the price

Eyes want to see, help me see
Ears want to hear, help me hear

Come away My beloved
We will dance
We will sing
You will yearn for Me
From within
The depth of your being
Heaven’s home
Returned

I can hear; I can see
